Agenda Item Title: Board Policy No. 3516, Emergencies and Disaster Preparedness Plan (3 minutes)

Background:
The District is in the process of updating Board Policies at the recommendation of the California School Boards Association. Board Policy No. 3516, Emergencies and Disaster Preparedness Plan has been updated to reflect those recommendations.
Board Policy 3516 provides an overview of the District's requirement to develop an Emergency and Disaster Preparedness plan. This policy was amended / adopted October 4, 2007. For the most part, the language in the policy remains the same with the exception of the following items:
- Language to include that the district will take all reasonable steps to mitigate an impact.
- The district will develop their plan in an inclusive manner with all stakeholders including law enforcement and other civil / support services.
- The district will provide annual training, which includes the use of drills, to all employees.

Recommended Action:
That the Board approved Board Policy No. 3516 Emergencies and Disaster Preparedness Plan at first reading, as presented.
