Agenda Item Title:  Ratification of Summer 2018 Construction Contracts (3 minutes)

Background: 

At the May 31, 2018, Board meeting, the Board approved Resolution 1674.5/18 Awarding Authority for Summer Construction Contracts to Superintendent or Chief Business Officer for the period of June 1 - August 23, 2018, with the agreement to return at the August 23 board meeting with any and all contracts entered into for review or ratification.

 

During the time period June 1-August 23, there were two such contracts:

1. Stevenson Temporary Housing Removal Project with Galeb Paving in the amount of $286,800; and, 

2. District Office Abatement and Demolition Project with Premier Builders in the amount of $257,616.

 

Mistral Elementary School

At the February 15, 2018 Board meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the Lease-Leaseback delivery method in accordance with Education Code 17406 for the Mistral Elementary School Phase 4 Project.

At the May 3, 2018 Board meeting, the Board of Trustees awarded the contact to BHM Construction, Inc. for the Mistral Elementary School Phase 4 Project.

In June, the District received the pricing from BHM for the 2nd increment of the Guaranteed Maximum Pricing (GMP) contract, which includes a 9% owner-controlled construction contingency to complete the DSA Approved construction work required for construction of the Mistral Elementary School Phase 4 Project.   Phase 4 contains the Administration building, the Flex-room building, the Kindergarten area site work, and the Frontage/Parking Lot areas.

Recommended Action: 
That the Board of Trustees ratify the two contracts and the pricing for the summer construction projects: Stevenson Elementary School Temporary Housing Removal Project with Galeb Paving, the District Office Abatement and Demolition Project with Premier Builders, and the Guaranteed Maximum Price for the Mistral Phase 4 Increment 2 Administration Building and Kindergarten Project with BHM Construction.
