Background:
On November 19, 2015, the District's Governing Board approved Resolution No. 1580.11/15 delegating authority to award contracts to the District's Superintendent, Chief Business Officer, Associate Superintendent(s), and Assistant Superintendent(s) pursuant to Education Code sections 17604 and 17605.
All contracts approved by those authorized to do so pursuant to that delegation authority are to be submitted to the District's Governing Board for ratification. Contracts that do not, however, involve an expenditure in excess of the bid limits specified in Public Contract Code section 20111 need only be reviewed by the District's Governing Board every 60 days. The applicable bid limits are $15,000 for construction contracts and $88,300 in 2017 (adjusted annually) for the purchase of equipment, materials, supplies, non-construction services, or repairs including maintenance.
Presented for ratification are the following contract(s):
- California Department of Education (Amendment 02) - As a participant in the County Child Care Subsidy Pilot, the maximum reimbursable amount has increased by $200k
- Infinity Systems Orgametrics - Empowering Leaders, Aligning Organizations, Driving Results, $135,000 - This is a continuation of last years contract to provide professional development and business partnership outreach. Infinity systems will combine MVEF and the MVWSD's approach to connecting with businesses around science education. This new approach should help to create synergy between MVWSD BOT goal 1 (Science education) and MVEF's strategic goal on enhancing science offerings for all students.
- Rhythm and Moves - Agreement of Physical Education Program annual contract 2018-2019 for 1st through 5th graders, $823,320
Presented for review are the following contract(s):
- Austin Texas Learning - Consultant to provide professional services, studies and reports to carry out special education program, $83.00/hr 40hrs/wk
- Dannis Woliver Kelley - Provide legal advice and counseling services for 2018-2019 Board of Trustees, fee based on services provided per hourly rate or by mutual agreement for special projects or particular scopes of work.
- Environmental Science Collaboration - MOU to implement science education by delivering environmental science resource classroom and field trio programs grades 3-6, $65,000.00
- Living Classroom - Garden based lessons for students, $76,000.00
- Pei-Nei Lee - Provide speech/language pathologist service in assessing a student for special education eligibility in Mandarin, not to exceed $2,000.00
- Peter Gorman Associates - Executive coaching service for MVWSD Superintendent, $45,000 plus travel-related expenses not to exceed $12,000.00
- Santa Clara County Office of Ed - Professional Development for ELA/ELD Framework $2,600.00
- Santa Clara County Office of Ed - Professional Development for Math, $3,120.00
- School Services of California - Fiscal budget services, $3,300.00 plus expenses
- YMCA Project Cornerstone - Amended dollar amount - added $5,000 (item previously approved at Board mtg. 5/3/2018) to provide support a positive school climate for all students and increase parent engagement
