Mountain View Whisman School District
Agenda Item for Board Meeting of 5/3/2018
Agenda Category: REVIEW AND ACTION
Agenda Item Title: Award Additional Services Contract to DTA for Added Design Scope for the School on North Whisman (5 minutes)
Estimated Time:
Person Responsible: Robert Clark, Ed.D., Chief Business Officer
Background:
The current project to build a new school on North Whisman did not include the cost to design and construct the new traffic signal and off-street improvements. The scope of work for the project included a signaled crosswalk on North Whisman. Through discussions and negotiations with the City of Mountain, the two entities agree a traffic signal is a better solution for the traffic needs of North Whisman area for the future years. To that end, the District and the City of Mountain View have agreed to equally share the cost to design and construct a traffic signal on North Whisman at Pacific.
The Proposal for Architectural Services presented by the Project's architect DTA includes the design and oversight of the work, as well as the fees for the outside consultants to complete the work.
Fiscal Implication:
Fund 40 - Certificate of Participation (COP) - $79,900.
City of Mountain View will reimburse 50% of the cost when complete.
Recommended Action: That the Board of Trustees approve the Request for Additional Services for the design of Traffic Signal on North Whisman at Pacific for the amount of $79,900.
