Background: 
At their January 18, 2018 meeting, the Board received information about the current Independent Study Program (ISP) in the Mountain View Whisman School District, which works with parents who wish to homeschool their children.  The ISP Program is not aligned to MVWSD's Strategic Plan 2021.  The Independent Study Program utilizes facilities space and requires administrative oversight.  Home Schooling options have evolved and there are many choices offered to parents who wish to home school their children.  The administration is recommending that the Independent Study Program be eliminated at the close of the 2018-19 school year. 

Fiscal Implication:
Savings of $57,647 per year.

Recommended Action: 
That the Board approve the closure of the Independent Study Program effective June 7, 2019.
