Mountain View Whisman School District

Agenda Item for Board Meeting of 1/18/2018

Agenda Category:  CONSENT AGENDA

Agenda Item Title:  Castro/Mistral (505 Escuela Ave.) Right of Entry Agreement for Greenwood Apartments (1825 California St.)

Estimated Time:

Person Responsible:  Dr. Robert Clark, Associate Superintendent/Chief Business Officer

Background:

The construction of the new Multi-Use Room at Castro/Mistral requires additional space for the required fire lane behind the building.  The District conducted a survey and found the current fence line behind the school campus is approximately eight to ten feet inside the actual property line.  Through discussions with adjacent neighbor, Greenwood Apartments, the property owner has agreed to the proposal of the District "taking back" the district's property by relocating the fence to the actual property line.  To do so will require the reduction of the carport's overhang on the Greenwood Apartments property.

The Right of Entry Agreement allows the District to perform the work.

Fiscal Implication:
Unknown; however, the cost of the fence is included in the Castro new school construction budget already.  The additional cost is limited to scope of work outlined in agreement.

Recommended Action:
That the Board of Trustees approve the Castro/Mistral (505 Escuela Ave.) Right of Entry Agreement with Greenwood Apartments (1825 California St.).
