Background: 

Following the presentation of initial design schemes on November 21, 2024, school principals actively gathered feedback from their school communities regarding the proposed concepts. This valuable input was shared with Carducci Associates, the District’s landscape architecture and planning firm. In response, Carducci met individually with each principal to review the feedback and revised the designs to incorporate suggestions related to playground enhancements and other site-specific improvements.

In February 2026, the Board reviewed the updated designs and directed Carducci to conduct additional rounds of engagement with each school site. Carducci subsequently held additional meetings with school communities to gather further feedback and made additional refinements based on that input. In parallel, Carducci also presented updates to the City’s Parks and Recreation Commission and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency across agencies.

This project has evolved over multiple years and has involved broad and ongoing community engagement. As the composition of the community has changed over time, so too have perspectives on what is most appropriate for each school site. The process remains rooted in collaboration, and continued refinement of the designs reflects the District’s commitment to ensuring that final site plans align with the evolving needs and priorities of students, families, and staff.
