Background:
At the April 24, 2025 Board meeting, the Board of Trustees discussed the need to ensure continuity of essential district operations during the summer months, when the Board does not meet as frequently. While the Superintendent has limited contracting authority under Resolution No. 06-110724 (adopted in November 2024), certain contracts that support critical operations, instructional programs, and compliance may exceed those limits and require more immediate action.
In response to that discussion, the attached resolution provides a temporary delegation of contract authority to the Superintendent, or designee, for the summer months. This authority is narrowly focused and applies only to contracts that are necessary for essential district operations, instructional and student services, facilities, or legal compliance—not for discretionary employee benefits, perks, or incentives.
All contracts approved under this delegation must follow applicable Board policies and procurement procedures and will be submitted to the Board for formal ratification at the next available meeting. This resolution ensures transparency while allowing time-sensitive work to proceed without unnecessary delay during the summer recess.
