Agenda Item Title:  (Discussion) Outdoor Learning Update and Preliminary Designs

Background: 

Following the presentation of the initial schemes on November 21, 2024, school principals actively gathered feedback from their respective communities regarding the proposed designs. This valuable input was subsequently shared with Carducci Associates, the district's landscape architecture and planning firm. In response, Carducci Associates met with each principal to review the comments and refined their designs to incorporate the feedback, including considerations for playground enhancements and other site-specific improvements.

This evening, representatives from Carducci Associates will present two examples of these updated designs to the board. It is important to note that these designs are still in progress and subject to further refinement. After tonight’s presentation, Carducci staff will be meeting with each school community to gather feedback on the revised designs. These sessions will ensure continued comprehensive community involvement and a collaborative design process, allowing stakeholders to provide further insights and suggestions to inform the final schematic design. Meeting dates and times have been scheduled or are in the process of being organized and will be publicized through each school.

The District and Carducci staff remain committed to an inclusive design process, ensuring that the final plans reflect the specific needs and aspirations of each school and our community’s dedication to providing students dynamic, comfortable spaces to learn, play and grow.
