Background:
The progress of this project was temporarily delayed as the District and the City of Mountain View worked to finalize the terms of a Joint Use Agreement (JUA) for shared field usage. Both parties are now excited to move forward, having reached a mutual agreement that benefits the community. The City has committed to partnering with the District by formalizing the cost-share in an addendum to the JUA.
The Board will consider for award a contract for the Sitework for Park Restrooms at Various Sites Project. On September 25, 2024, the District received contractor bids for the Sitework for Park Restrooms at Various Sites Project.
Six proposals were received, and the apparent low responsive and responsible bidder is Rodan Builders, Inc.
The District's Measure T Bond Program manager, Greystone West, has reviewed the proposal for conformance with District and statutory requirements.
Fiscal Implication:
The base bid received from Rodan Builders, Inc. is in the amount of $722,000.00. A $15,000.00 allowance for unforeseen conditions will also be included in the contract amount in accordance with the bid documents which brings the contract value to $737,000.00.
The bid received from Rodan Builders is well above the Board approved schematic design budget for this project which was established in 2021 for construction in 2022. Due to decision to put the project on hold and now reschedule for construction in late 2024 and early 2025, significant escalation and materials cost increases have arisen.
Recommended Action:
It is recommended that the Board of Trustees award the contract to Rodan Builders, Inc. for the Sitework for Park Restrooms at Various Sites Project.
