Agenda Item Title:  Delegating Authority to the Superintendent or their Designee(s) for Continuing Operations during the Summer Months Pursuant to Education Code section 17604

Background: 

Education Code section 17604 permits the Governing Board (“Board”) to delegate its authority to contract to the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee(s) with such limitations as to time, money and subject matter as the Board may prescribe, so long as any contract entered by the Superintendent, or their designee(s) is approved or ratified by the Board. District staff wish to contract for goods and services and otherwise provide for the efficient management of the District during the summer months. Therefore, it is recommended by the District staff and requested that the Board approve the delegation of authority to the Superintendent or their designee to contract and otherwise provide for the efficient management of the District for the period of June 13, 2024 to August 22, 2024.

It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approves delegating to the Superintendent, or their designee, the authority to award contracts between June 13, 2024, to August 22, 2024, with such contracts being subject to the Board’s ratification.
