Agenda Item Title:  School Calendar for the 2024-2025 School Year

Background: 

The school calendar is a negotiated item under the collective bargaining agreement with the Mountain View Educators Association (MVEA). A Calendar Committee composed of MVEA and district representatives met to develop the 2024-2025 school year calendar. 

The calendar committee has worked to align our calendar closely with the Mountain View-Los Altos High School District calendar with a couple minor exceptions. 1. MVLA’s school year will start on Monday, August 12, 2024. The calendar committee has proposed a start date of Tuesday, August 13, 2024 for our district as this provides adequate time for professional development including our technology summit, new teacher training, and professional learning for all teachers. 2. The MVWSD calendar proposal has an end date of Thursday, June 4, 2025. This allows for our students to complete the school year one day prior to MVLA and will allow families to participate in end of year celebrations in both districts without competing for time.

All holidays and breaks are consistent between the two districts as a service to our community.
