Background:
School Plans for Student Achievement (SPSA) are being presented for approval. Plans were posted to the District website on Monday, October 9th for review by the Board of Trustees and the public. Members of the Board of Trustees have been meeting individually with principals to learn more about each site's plan. Principals will be in attendance and available at the December 7th meeting for additional questions from Trustees.
The School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) is a document that represents a school’s cycle of continuous improvement for student performance. The SPSA is grounded in data and identifies research-based instructional strategies to be implemented with the goal of improving outcomes for all student students. School Plans for Student Achievement (SPSAs) are aligned with all goal areas of MVWSD’s Strategic Plan 2027 as well as with the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) for our District. School Plans for Student Achievement (SPSA’s) bring to life our District’s vision of every student, family, staff, and community member being engaged and committed to learning in a collaborative, diverse, and innovative partnership. SPSAs are a blueprint to improve outcomes for all students. At MVWSD, we require all schools to have an annually approved SPSA. SPSA’s are developed collaboratively by site administrators, the School Site Council (SSC), English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), and the school staff. After initial approval by the School Site Councils, SPSAs are presented to the local governing board for review and approval. While the starting date of the annual planning cycle is a local decision, every school needs to have an approved plan guiding the work of the school. Once the plan is approved and implemented, each SSC in collaboration with site staff and advisory groups are responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of planned activities and modifying those that prove ineffective.
Fiscal Implication: $1,430,694 including funding from federal, state and local sources.
