Background: 

On November 19, 2015, the District's Governing Board approved Resolution No. 1580.11/15 delegating authority to award contracts to the District's Superintendent, Chief Business Officer, Associate Superintendent(s), and Assistant Superintendent(s) pursuant to Education Code sections 17604 and 17605.

 

All contracts approved by those authorized to do so pursuant to that delegation authority are to be submitted to the District's Governing Board for ratification. Contracts that do not, however, involve an item of expenditure in excess of the bid limits specified in Public Contract Code section 20111 need only be reviewed by the District's Governing Board every 60 days.  The applicable bid limits are $15,000 for construction contracts and $109,300 in 2023 (adjusted annually) for the purchase of equipment, materials, supplies, non-construction services, or repairs including maintenance.

 

Presented for ratification are the following contract(s): 

  1. Santa Clara County Offices of Education- Will provide the Walden West Science Camp for 5th grade students, district-wide, for the 2023-2024 school year, Approximately $212,540 (depending on student participation).

 

Presented for review are the following contract(s): 

  1. Canopy- Will work with STEAM coordinators at both Mistral and Castro schools to deliver tree-themed and environmental education lessons to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students for the 2023-2024 school year, No cost to the District.  
  2. Playworks Education Energized- Will provide an on-site programmatic launch, training and virtual and in-person consultation services that will teach strategies, games and systems to develop and sustain a positive education culture for all Mistral elementary school students from October 30, 2023 through June 31, 2024, $17,500.00.  
  3. Soul Shoppe- Will provide 2 in-person assemblies and classroom visits on the topic of Respect Differences for all students at Bubb elementary from October 6, 2023 through May 31, 2024, $8,900.00.
  4. Spectrum Center Inc.- Will provide NPS student placement for the 2023-2024 school year, approximate cost $66,215.00.
  5. Susan Hentz- Will provide professional development to the Special Education department in the area of co-teaching from October 5, 2023 through June 30, 2024, Not to exceed $25,000.00.
  6. UCSF Multitudes Literacy Screening- Will provide dyslexia screening and early intervention application for the 2023-2024 school year, No cost to the District.
