Background: 

The California Schools Healthy Air, Plumbing, and Efficiency Program (CalSHAPE) provide funding to upgrade heating, air conditioning, and ventilation (HVAC) systems in public schools and replace non compliant plumbing fixtures and appliances that fail to meet water efficiency

standards.  The program provides funding to local educational agencies for the reasonable costs of HVAC assessment, general maintenance and adjustment, filter replacement, and carbon dioxide monitor installation, including certain repairs, replacements, and other improvements to HVAC systems. The District would like to participate in the CalSHAPE program for its HVAC systems.



Fiscal Implication:

This grant is intended for HVAC systems at Gabriela Mistral Elementary, Jose Antonio Vargas Elementary, Benjamin Bubb Elementary, Edith Landels Elementary, Amy Imai Elementary, Isaac Newton Graham Middle, Stevenson Elementary, Crittenden Middle, Monta Loma Elementary, and Theuerkauf Elementary in the amount of $933,150.00. Castro Elementary was awarded a grant previously.



Recommended Action: 

It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve Resolution No. 01-012623 to accept the funding from the California Energy Commission's California schools Healthy Air, Plumbing, and Efficiency (CalSHAPE) Program.
