Background:
The District is in the process of updating policies at the recommendation of the California School Boards Association.
The proposed changes reflect a new court decision (Kennedy v. Bremerton School District) regarding free exercise and free speech rights. The proposed changes also reflect new language recommended by the California School Boards Association regarding procedures for disciplinary proceedings in which there are allegations of egregious misconduct in which a minor is involved.
Board Policy No. 4218: Dismissal/Suspension/Disciplinary Action has been updated to reflect those recommendations.
