Background: 

On November 19, 2015, the District's Governing Board approved Resolution No. 1580.11/15 delegating authority to award contracts to the District's Superintendent, Chief Business Officer, Associate Superintendent(s), and Assistant Superintendent(s) pursuant to Education Code sections 17604 and 17605.

All contracts approved by those authorized to do so pursuant to that delegation authority are to be submitted to the District's Governing Board for ratification. Contracts that do not, however, involve an item of expenditure in excess of the bid limits specified in Public Contract Code section 20111 need only be reviewed by the District's Governing Board every 60 days.  The applicable bid limits are $15,000 for construction contracts and $99,100 in 2022 (adjusted annually) for the purchase of equipment, materials, supplies, non-construction services, or repairs including maintenance.

1. Active Learning in the Arts- Will provide after school music program targeting socio-economically disadvantaged students at Castro School from January 23, 2023 through April 3, 2023, $2,500.00.
2. Avalon Transportation LLC, Will provide transportation services for music students from Crittenden Middle that are attending the Disneyland trip.  Students and staff will depart February 15, 2023 and return February 18, 2023, $16,400.00.
3. The County of Santa Clara - Through the Office of the County Counsel, the County will provide legal services for MVWSD, including but not limited to research and general advice, $5,000.00.
4. Enrique S. Flores- Will provide in-person inspirational speech to students at Crittenden Middle on November 18, 2022, $1,500.00.
5. Enrique S. Flores- Amendment to the contract that was board approved on November 3, 2022 to add one speaking engagement on February 17, 2023 for Graham Middle students, $1,500.00.
6. Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley- Will provide a curriculum-based SEL program for girls in grades 3-5 at Imai Elementary, which teaches important life skills and trains them to complete a 5K run/walk event from January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023, $2,000.00.
7. Happy Birds- Will provide one assembly on December 15, 2022 for students at Vargas Elementary, $650.00.
8. Kindship Academy- Will provide NPS student placement for the 2022-2023 school year, $8,000.00.
9. Nanogan Science & Services LLC- Will provide one Fire & Ice assembly to Kinder through 2nd grade students and one Up Up and Away assembly to 3rd through 5th grade students at Vargas Elementary on March 16, 2023, $900.00.
10. Soul Shoppe Programs- Will provide the Respect Differences digital course and 2 in-person grade level workshops at Imai Elementary from November 18, 2022 through June 30, 2023, $5,000.00.
11. Sound & Signal Inc.- Will provide panic buttons installation, district-wide, $29,810.00.
12. TechSmart- Will provide coding in Skylark course for Imai Elementary students from November 18, 2022 through June 30, 2023, $4,500.00.
