Background: 

The Governing Board is required to hold an annual public hearing (see attached notice of posted public hearing) and adopt a resolution (see attached resolution) stating whether each pupil in the district has sufficient textbooks or instructional materials.


“Sufficient textbooks or instructional materials” means that each pupil, including English learners, have standards-aligned textbooks or instructional materials, or both, to use in class and to take home.  It is not required by law to have two sets of textbooks or instructional materials for each pupil. 

 

MVWSD is a 1:1 district.  All students have a District device and access to internet to ensure that students can access all materials both at home and at school. 

 

 The Governing Board shall encourage participation in the public hearing by parents, teachers, members of the community interested in the affairs of the school district, and bargaining unit leaders. The public hearing will certify compliance with Education Code Section 60119 (as revised by Chapter 118, Statutes of 2005) and California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 5, Section 9531.

Recommended Action: 

That the Board hold a Public Hearing and approves and adopts Resolution No. 01-090822, Pupil Textbooks and Instructional Materials Aligned to the Academic Content Standards and Consistent with Content and Cycles of State Frameworks, as presented.
