Background: 

The California Schools Healthy Air, Plumbing, and Efficiency Program (CalSHAPE) provide funding to upgrade heating, air conditioning, and ventilation (HVAC) systems in public schools and replace noncompliant plumbing fixtures and appliances that fail to meet water efficiency standards.



Fiscal Implication:

The program provides funding to local educational agencies for the reasonable costs of HVAC assessment, general maintenance and adjustment, filter replacement, and carbon dioxide monitor installation, including certain repairs, replacements, and other improvements to HVAC systems.

 

This grant is intended for HVAC systems at Castro Elementary for the amount of $181,830.  Additional schools may become eligible in the future to participate in the CalSHAPE program. 



Recommended Action: 

It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve Resolution No. 05-061622 to accept the funding from the California Energy Commission's California schools Healthy Air, Plumbing, and Efficiency (CalSHAPE) Program.
