Agenda Item Title:  Child Nutrition Overview and Meal Cost (30 minutes)

Background: 
Staff will present an update on our Child Nutrition department and recommend an increase in what we would charge for meals based on current conditions.  Students will not be charged for meals for at least the next two years due to the State committing to providing free meals to all students.  Raising the price of what we would charge brings us into compliance with the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).  Our current paid rates are less than the reimbursement we receive  from the NSLP, thus showing that our free and reduced meals are supplementing our paid meals. 

Fiscal Implication:
None for the 21-22 and 22-23 school year.

Recommended Action: 

It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve to increase the paid price of lunch to $5.50 for students and $6.50 for adults and increase the cost of breakfast to $3.50 for students and $4.00 for adults.  The changes will go into effect next school year.
