Background: 

On November 19, 2015, the District's Governing Board approved Resolution No. 1580.11/15 delegating authority to award contracts to the District's Superintendent, Chief Business Officer, Associate Superintendent(s), and Assistant Superintendent(s) pursuant to Education Code sections 17604 and 17605.

 

All contracts approved by those authorized to do so pursuant to that delegation authority are to be submitted to the District's Governing Board for ratification. Contracts that do not, however, involve an item of expenditure in excess of the bid limits specified in Public Contract Code section 20111 need only be reviewed by the District's Governing Board every 60 days.  The applicable bid limits are $15,000 for construction contracts and $99,100 in 2022 (adjusted annually) for the purchase of equipment, materials, supplies, non-construction services, or repairs including maintenance.

  1. Books Inc.- Will provide Monta Loma Elementary with a virtual/in-store fundraising shopping event, where 10% of all sales will be donated back to Monta Loma. Event will be from February 28, 2022 through March 6, 2022.
  2. Hai Learning, LLC- Will provide 10 group sessions of Mandarin classes weekly on Tuesday from 2:40-3:40 PM to students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade at Vargas Elementary from March 15, 2022 through May 24, 2022, $5,000.00.
  3. Imagineerz Learning, LLC- Will provide In-Person After-School Enrichment STEM and Growth Mindset sessions for Stevenson students in grades 1-5.  Sessions will start on March 15, 2022 through June 3, 2022, $7,800.00.
  4. James S. Wiltens- Will provide leadership and creativity programs to the 4th and 5th grade classes at Landels Elementary.  The program will include in-person sessions as well as virtual sessions from March 3, 2022 through April 8, 2022, $5,300.00.
  5. Peninsula Youth Theater- This contract amendment with Peninsula Youth Theater will provide Vargas Elementary 10 additional sessions of school drama classes with a play performance at the end of the session.  The additional sessions will start on March 15, 2022 through April 12, 2022, $4,000.00.
  6. SCCOE- The Special Education Regional Programs and Related Services MOU will assist in providing MVWSD with SCCOE regional programs and services through a district of residence ("DOR") initiated placement in appropriate cases.  MVWSD will reimburse SCCOE for the cost of any placement of services provided by the district.
  7. Sown to Grow- Will improve student social, emotional, and academic health through an easy and engaging check-in, reflection and teacher feedback process.  The program includes software licenses and PD/training for the 2021-2022 school year, $2,450.00.
  8. Symon David Hayes- Will provide Virtual PBL coaching and planning support to school leadership, grade level coaching, PBL project support and additional resources as needed to Stevenson Elementary from March 14, 2022 through May 31, 2022, $4,200.00.

Recommended Action: 

It is recommended that the Board of Trustees ratify or review the contracts as presented.
