Agenda Item Title:  Monta Loma Update and Award of Architectural Services Contract to Carducci Associates for the Monta Loma Fields and Site Improvements Project (45 minutes)

Background: 
Staff will present an update on the summer pilot program and where we are with the Monta Loma Fields.  The Monta Loma Fields and Site Improvements Project involves the renovation and replacement of +/- 250,000 square feet of fields, blacktop play area, play structure, parking, fencing and associated site work. The project requires the services of an architectural design firm to assist in design and construction documents, Division of the State Architect (DSA) approval, construction administration and closeout. On July 6, 2021, the District issued the RFP to the Pool of Architects. Four proposals were received and evaluated to the following criteria: Schedule, Personnel/Team Experience, Work Commitments, Compensation, Other Relevant Criteria and Interview. Carducci Associates received the highest total score (481 out of 540). District staff is recommending that the Board approve Carducci Associates as the architectural design firm for the project.

Fiscal Implication:
Carducci Associates proposed a fee for the required services in the amount of $481,000. At this time, the estimated construction cost is $5,750,000. The proposed fee is within the established project budget for design fees.

Recommended Action: 
It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve Carducci Associates as the architectural design firm and award an agreement in the amount of $481,000 to Carducci Associates for the Monta Loma Fields and Site Improvements Project.
