Agenda Item Title: Approval of Recognition and Appreciation Payments

Background:
The District wishes to address the incredible commitment and effort that all employees put forth this year to provide instruction to students and support to the District while facing unimaginable challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic by offering each eligible employee a one-time payment of two thousand dollars ($2,000), less taxes and other applicable deductions. To be eligible, an employee must be in paid status with the District on the date the Board approves this recognition and appreciation payment. The amount will be prorated based on the employee’s FTE (for example, an otherwise eligible 1.0 FTE employee would receive a $2,000 payment; an otherwise eligible .50 FTE employee would receive a $1,000 payment).
Eligible employees include:
- MVEA members as described in the attached MOU.
- CSEA members as described in the attached MOU.
- Unrepresented employees including preschool staff, confidential employees, management, and administrative staff.
Fiscal Implication:
$1,246,504
Recommended Action:
Staff recommends that the Board of Trustees approve the recognition and appreciation payment for unrepresented employees as presented.
