Mountain View Whisman School District
Agenda Item for Board Meeting of 5/6/2021
Agenda Category: REVIEW AND ACTION
Agenda Item Title: Resolution No. 01-050621 Mental Health Month May 2021 (10 minutes)
Person Responsible: Karin Jinbo, Health and Wellness Coordinator
May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month nationwide. Mental health is essential to everyone’s overall health and wellbeing, and mental health conditions are common and treatable. While 1 in 5 people experience mental health conditions during their lifetime, everyone faces challenges in life that can impact their mental health. There are practical tools that everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase resiliency regardless of the situations they are dealing with. There are ways that everyone can be supportive of friends, family, and co-workers who are struggling with life’s challenges or their mental health.
Mountain View Whisman School District recognizes our students, staff, and families’ wellbeing is critical to student achievement. We endorse and promote making small changes every day to build Tools2Thrive and pledging to be StigmaFree. We recognize that bringing awareness to mental health and wellness is one of the first steps we can take to support our community, thus supporting a resolution for Mental Health Awareness Month May 2021.
It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve Resolution No. 01-050621, Mental Health Month May 2021, as presented.
