Agenda Item Title:  Solar Photovoltaic System and Data Acquisition System at School Sites Change Order No. 1 – ENGIE Services U.S., Inc.

Background: 

The original project schedule included onsite construction to begin in spring of 2022.  In order to speed up construction and realize energy savings, the District has elected to break the project into 2 phases.  Phase 1 will consist of all sites which have DSA approved Pre-check canopies (Bubb Elementary School, Castro/Mistral Elementary Schools, Graham Middle School, Huff Elementary School, Landels Elementary School, Stevenson Elementary School and Vargas Elementary School).  Phase 1 construction will begin in June of 2021.  Phase 2 projects will consist of the sites which have both rooftop and canopies (Crittenden Middle School, Monta Loma Elementary School and Theuerkauf Elementary School.  Phase 2 construction will begin in June of 2022.  The shift in schedule results in additional costs resulting from multiple mobilizations, extended general conditions including temp facility rentals and increased supervision and management hours.

Change Order #1 for $305,880.40 will increase the Engie Services contract amount to $9,170,496.40.



Fiscal Implication:

The monies required for Change Order #1 will not exceed $305,880.40.   A design contingency of $886,462 has been budgeted for this project.  After change order 1, the balance of the design contingency will be $580,581.60. 



Recommended Action: 
It is recommended the Board of Trustees approve Change Order #1 for the 

Solar Photovoltaic System and Data Acquisition System at School Sites Project.
