Agenda Item Title: Approval of Dreilling Terrones Architecture Additional Service Request for the Vargas ES Parking Cover Project

Background:
The Vargas Elementary School Parking Cover project includes installation of a custom shade structure and surrounding site repair and/or alterations. The original intent was to install a carport structure based on DSA pre-checked (PC) design, but it has been determined that a PC design is not currently available to meet the design requirements of placing structural posts outside of the parking boundary. Using available PC designs would lead to the loss of approximately 10 parking spaces at Vargas where parking is already limited. Therefore, the plan is to install a custom structure that is similar to the available PC designs. The structural engineering design required for this structure is not included in the scope of services originally approved in Dreilling Terrones Architecture’s proposal.
Fiscal Implication:
Dreilling Terrones Architecture has presented an additional service fee proposal for the required services in the amount of $28,000. This proposal is within the established project.
Recommended Action:
It is recommended the Board of Trustees approve the additional service fee proposal for Dreilling Terrones Architecture in the amount of $28,000 and award the Addendum for additional services to their existing agreement.
