Agenda Item Title: Award of Contract to Golden Bay Fence plus Iron Works, Inc. for the District-Wide Campus Perimeter Controls Upgrades Project Phase 1

Background:
On September 9, 2020, the District received contractor proposals for the District-Wide Campus Perimeter Controls Upgrades Project. Three (3) proposals were received and the apparent low responsive and responsible bidder is Golden Bay Fence plus Iron Works, Inc. The District’s Measure T Bond Program manager, Greystone West, has reviewed the proposal for conformance with District and statutory requirements. In order to expedite the work, the contract will be awarded in two phases. Phase 1 which includes Bubb Elementary School., Castro/Mistral Elementary School, Crittenden Middle School, Huff Elementary School, Landels Elementary School, Stevenson Elementary School and Theuerkauf Elementary School; and Phase 2 which includes the work at Monta Loma Elementary School and Graham Middle School. Phase 2 will be awarded pending DSA approval of that scope of work.
Fiscal Implication:
The total contract amount will be $1,088,759 with all costs to be charged to the Measure T bond program. At this time only the phase 1 work is being awarded. The contract amount for phase 1 will be $818,918. Phase 2 will be awarded separately once DSA approval of that phase is obtained.
Recommended Action:
It is recommended that the Board of Trustees award the contract for the District-Wide Campus Perimeter Controls Upgrades Project – Phase 1 to Golden Bay Fence plus Iron Works, Inc. in the amount of $818,918 and authorize staff to issue a purchase order for the work.
