Background: 
The firm conviction of the  Mountain View Whisman School District is that students whose history and heritage is respected, appreciated, and celebrated, will learn better and attain positive educational outcomes.
 
The teaching of ethnic studies contributes to developing a sense of belongingness and security that is crucial to full engagement in learning. Rather than being divisive, ethnic studies help students bridge differences that currently exist, build critical thinking skills, and lead to stronger achievement. 
 
Our district regularly seeks opportunities to strengthen instructional content to ensure that it reflects our communities' true diversity.

None. 

Recommended Action: 
It is recommended that the Board of Trustees adopt Resolution No. 02-090320 Supporting Ethnic Studies for All.
