Background:
The District is in the process of updating policies at the recommendation of the California School Boards Association.
The changes take out references to the No Child Left Behind Act and gives guidance to the District when a clear or preliminary credentialed teacher is not available to hire. It sets forth priorities in hiring if there is an unavailability of a credentialed teacher based on Education Code.
Board Policy No. 4112.2, Certification has been updated to reflect those recommendations.

Recommended Action:
That the Board approve Board Policy No. 4112.2, Certification at first reading, as presented.
