Background:
The District is in the process of updating policies at the recommendation of the California School Boards Association. Board Policy No. 6171, Title I Programs has been updated to reflect those recommendations as was approved at first reading on October 18, 2018.
Overview of the policy
Board Policy No. 6171, Title I Programs provides an overview of how Title I programming should be designed, implemented and assessed aligned to federal and state requirements. For the most part, the core requirement language is the same with the exception of the following items:
Summary list of changes in the policy
1. The explicit verbiage of "supplement not supplant" with regard to Title I funds use.
2. Updated federal code and legal references to now include updated United States Codes (USC) 20-6314 and 6321.
3. 90-110 percent per student allocation above non Title I schools language added.
4. Provisions and guidance on private schools participation.
